About Sun Lakes Arizona

Sun Lakes is located off Riggs Road east of Interstate 10 nestled against the southwestern border of Chandler, Arizona. Spread across more than 3,500 acres, this Robson-build community of 16,000 features championship golf and numerous amenities at the state-of-the-art clubhouse.

Though construction of Sun Lakes began in the mid-1970s, it wasn’t until 2005 that the final homes were sold and the new-build sales offices were closed for good.  Sun Lakes has become unique in its self-sufficiency, including a fire district serving this unincorporated community in Maricopa County.

Once a 55-and-over community, Sun Lakes now is age-restricted to those 40 and older and is comprised of five country clubs under one overall community umbrella.

The Oakwood Country Club offers 27 holes of public golf, driving range and restaurant. Ironwood has an 18-hole public golf course and clubhouse restaurant. For those looking for private play and clubhouse usage, Sun Lakes also has the Palo Verde, Cottonwood and Sun Lakes 1 country clubs.

Residents can take advantage of the 16 tennis courts, the fitness facility or any of the numerous clubs and activities taking place at any given time in Sun Lakes. Fish in the fully stocked lakes, create a masterpiece at the Arts & Crafts or Lapidary centers or simply visit with your neighbors

Sun Lakes is located minutes from Chandler Fashion Square as well as Rawhide, Firebird Raceway and two of the Gila River Indian Community’s three casinos.
